Yves Rossy, AKA Jetman, attempted to fly across the Atantic from Morocco to Spain yesterday. His homemade, jet powered wings "span 8 feet and are powered by four kerosene-fueled jet engines."
Homemade?! Flying across the Atlantic in homemade, jet powered wings demonstrates some true DIY dedication (and a pretty insane daredevil nature).
From msnbc news:
"Yves Rossy took off from Tangiers but five minutes into an expected 15-minute flight he was obliged to ditch into the wind-swept waters... Apparently the wing malfunctioned, possibly due to engine failure, but said Rossy had deployed his parachute and landed in the water in a controlled fashion.
His endeavor had been billed as the first intercontinental crossing by man using jet-powered wings — over the North Atlantic between Africa and Europe.
Rossy provided the first public demonstration of his homemade aircraft in May 2008, doing figure eights over the Alps before touching down near the eastern shore of Lake Geneva."

Yikes. Better luck next time, Jetman.

Is this MSNBC News?? I don't know what kind of dumb reporters it got. The sea Between Morocco and spain is not the Atlantic, it is the Mediterranean sea, 8 miles of sea. The Atlantic ocean is between Africa and America and it is thousands of miles.
TV now-days is just treating people dumb and stupid and giving them whatever, just to make money.
If he started in west Morocco, he would indeed fly over the North Atlantic on his way to Spain.
Listen, I was born there and I lived there 27 years and I swam in every inch of sea water in that part of the world. He tried to fly from my city to spain and the sea between them is called the Mediterranean.
With respect, Aeroport Tanger (where he took off) points west into the Atlantic. You would be correct though if he had taken off from the north side of the city (presumably where you lived & swam).
The article says (attempted to fly across the Atantic from Morocco to spain) The guy is supposed to cross the water between Tanger and spain, that water is called the Mediterranean Sea regardless where is the Airport, even though we have no business with it because we're talking about the name of that water between those 2 continents. + the Airport sir is in the south of Tanger (15km) from the center, not in the west. With respect 2 just like yours
